Getting Started

What is EatPlanet? EatPlanet builds you a personalized weekly meal plan based on your age, sex, activity level, goal, and diet type — then helps you shop for it affordably by estimating grocery costs for your city. You can also switch any week to takeaway/delivery instead of cooking, and EatPlanet will suggest meals and estimate costs for that too.

What do I need to get started? Just download the app and answer a short set of onboarding questions — your age, sex, height/weight, activity level, diet type, weight goal, city, favorite cuisines, weekly meal budget, and how much time you like to spend cooking. EatPlanet uses these to generate your first weekly plan immediately.

What devices does EatPlanet support? EatPlanet runs on iPhone with iOS 16.0 or later (iPhone 8 and newer).

Can I change my answers after onboarding? Yes. Everything you enter during setup — diet type, goal, city, cuisine preferences, weekly budget, cooking-time preference, household size, and more — can be changed anytime from the Profile tab.

Personalization & Diet Types

Which diet types does EatPlanet support? Vegan, vegetarian, keto, OMAD (one meal a day), halal, and "no restriction." You choose one during onboarding and can switch it anytime in Settings.

How does the halal filter work? It excludes recipes containing pork, pork derivatives, or alcohol-based ingredients. It's an ingredient-exclusion filter based on our recipe data, not an independent halal certification of how the ingredients were sourced or prepared.

Does EatPlanet account for medical conditions or allergies? No. EatPlanet is built for general wellness planning — it is not a medical app and doesn't offer condition-specific guidance (for example, for diabetes or specific allergies). If you have a medical condition that affects your diet, please talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before making changes based on the app.

How does EatPlanet calculate my calorie target? From your age, sex, height, weight, and activity level, using a standard formula (Mifflin-St Jeor) commonly used in nutrition planning. It's a well-established estimate, not personalized medical advice.

Can I set a favorite cuisine? Yes — during onboarding (and anytime after, in Settings) you can select the cuisines you enjoy (American, British, Canadian, African, Asian, Mediterranean, Mexican & Latin American, Middle Eastern, or "surprise me"). Your plan leans toward those cuisines while still respecting your diet type.

Meals, Recipes & Cooking

Where do EatPlanet's recipes come from? EatPlanet draws from an in-house library of nearly 2,000 recipes spanning a wide range of cuisines, with every recipe's calories, macros, and diet tags calculated directly from its ingredients.

Can I switch between cooking and getting takeaway? Yes. On the "This Week" tab, a "Cook vs. order this week" card lets you switch your whole week between home cooking and takeaway/delivery with one tap — EatPlanet will suggest real dishes and estimate costs either way. You can also set your general cooking-time preference (Quick, Moderate, I enjoy cooking, or Takeaway) from Settings.

Can I mix cooking and takeaway within the same week? Not yet — today the toggle switches your entire week at once. Day-by-day mixing may come in a future update.

Grocery Shopping & Costs

How accurate are the grocery cost estimates? Where we have real pricing data for your city, EatPlanet shows costs based on actual reported grocery prices. Coverage is currently strongest in Western Europe; for cities where we don't yet have that data, EatPlanet falls back to a general cost estimate. Either way, treat these as helpful estimates for budgeting — not a guaranteed quote from any specific store.

What is the weekly meal budget feature? You can set a weekly budget in your own currency, and EatPlanet's plan generator will try to keep your week's meals within it — for both cooking and takeaway weeks — and will let you know honestly if a given week comes in over or under budget.

Does EatPlanet show prices in my local currency? Yes, cost estimates are shown in your local currency based on your city. If your city isn't recognized, EatPlanet falls back to a general USD estimate.

Subscription & Billing

Is EatPlanet free? EatPlanet is a paid subscription app. Current pricing and plan options (weekly and annual) are always shown in the app before you subscribe — the annual plan is priced to save you money compared to paying weekly.

How does billing work? Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID and renew automatically until cancelled. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your iPhone's Settings app under your Apple ID.

I resubscribed or switched phones — how do I get my plan back? Tap "Restore Purchases" on the paywall screen. If you have an active subscription tied to your Apple ID, it will be restored immediately.

Can I get a refund? Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by EatPlanet directly. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
